In today's competitive environment, manufacturers must continuously improve in order to just survive. Customers expect higher and higher levels of quality and service at lower and lower cost. Intense global competition limits the ability of companies to raise prices, while the costs of doing business domestically skyrocket. While technological innovations can help, keeping up with the dizzying pace of technology seems an impossible task.
In response to these pressures, Mississippi State University created the Industrial Outreach Service (IOS). The primary mission of IOS is to help Mississippi industry become more effective and competitive in the global economy. IOS serves as a coordinated, dedicated, and responsive conduit for applying resources and expertise available within the university to the problems and issues faced by Mississippi business and industry.
This has been an exciting year for IOS and the MSU Bagley College of Engineering (BCoE) as the college’s outreach and service activities have been formalized into the Engineering Engagement and Outreach Service (EEOS). IOS is a founding organization of the new affiliation of BCoE that will serve as a coordinating mechanism for IOS and other BCoE entities that focus on serving Mississippi businesses, industry, government, and local communities. By engaging with the BCoE and its EEOS, the Industrial Outreach Service looks forward to playing an even larger role in the economy of the state. Learn more about the EEOS in this new brochure.
